Looks like the Vegan Pal 2 blog has another contest up and running! Given that I missed the last one ’cause I was so busy (read: ‘lazy’) I thought I’d give this one a shot. It’s all about vegan resources, so here’s two of my favourites that come to mind…
Herbivore:
This site is great! They have [...]

Teaching myself to Sing(er).

I’ve never really been any good at keeping secrets, so here it is. My latest craft interest complete with extravagant purchase:
It’s a Singer 2662. Picked up by D on his way home from work last Friday, after I had traipsed all over town looking for a decent sewing machine stockist to no avail. Thankfully D [...]
It’s all about technique.

(Forgive me while I play catch up here… I have a bit of a blog photo backlog.) Just wanted to share with you one of my recent knitting-related purchases. (Once we decided that we were going to ship stuff on from KL to wherever we might end up next rather than trying to take just [...]

It appears it’s not only my own mother who has cottoned on to the fact that I’m rather obsessive about yarn and sticks these days (with the help of a few subtle hints), but also D’s mum. Check out the magazines I was able to pick from her stash when we were back in Perth [...]

Knitting green. Everyone’s doing it. Including Knit 1 magazine.
I picked up this magazine recently mostly for the information it gave on non-animal fibre yarns such as rayon, hemp, cotton, linen and nettle. It’s a good read; lots of info, features, demystifying of concepts and patterns galore.
This is the spread on how different yarns knit [...]

FOs coming out my ears. It must be the weather.
Coming to you live from pen & purl headquarters, the Cable and Seed Stitch Baby Hat:
This took longer than it should’ve as the sticky Debbie Bliss Baby Cashmerino and teency weency 2.5mm bamboo dpns weren’t really on the best of terms, resulting in sore fingers and [...]
Woe is a loose sock.

The milestone of the first sock is complete. Top, heel, gusset, toe: all survived through with a minimum of fuss. I’m surprised how much I enjoyed the first sock. Am I hooked? Maybe. I’m waiting to see how the second sock goes.
It’s not too shaby as far as first socks go, but still I [...]
Big pink Thing.

It was supposed to be a baby blanket. Then I ran out of yarn.
It’s now a large rectangular stripy Thing. Hideously bright. Any ideas?
I’ve thought about making it into a felted bag for my sister. I think the colour would go with her personality.

Choose yarn, buy yarn, send yarn to someone out there in blogland whom you’ve never met in the hope that they’ll like it. Yup, I’ve officially jumped on the yarn swapping bandwagon, enabled by the lovely peeps at Vegan Pal 2. I think it will be fun. You don’t have to be vegan to participate, [...]

Want to up the cute factor on your desktop? Check out pixelgirl presents. They have loads of very cool desktop backgrounds and also the cutest icons. I hadn’t tried changing mine before, so had to use their (very easy to follow) tutorial and now have a desktop full of flameia’s little critters:
They’re great! I especially [...]
