Hello! Yes, still breathing. More like hyperventilating actually (technicalities..).
It’s Monday. I need to take my dissertation in to be bound on Thursday, Friday if I think the gods are with me. Meaning I need to finish the thing by Thursday morning. About three days.
Not entirely impossible, but the pressure’s on!
Matters are not exactly [...]

Seven days to go on my dissertation (again, fluctuating between ecstatic and stressed), but I keep finding myself looking into the vegan thing by way of procrastination (apparently I can’t justify knitting this week as it’s just too obviously procrastination, at least the vegan thing keeps me at my laptop and makes me feel like [...]
Falling for tofu…?

For some reason I’ve lately been perusing articles and sites on becoming vegan. Not sure what the attraction is or why I’m really looking into it now (except for the obvious procrastination benefits), but it feels a bit like the interest I had when I sort of ‘fell’ into vegetarian eating. Something that had just [...]

I know I’ve been trying to cut down the amount of yarn I currently own, but a while ago I discovered the Knit Happens sale and couldn’t pass up the bargains. Thankfully (for my bank account) some of what I wanted ended up not being in stock. But some of it definitely was and, after [...]

Thanks to Jenn at Rhymes with Socks, I now have something to blog about! I’ve been wanting to, really I have, but with only two weeks to go before my dissertation is due there has been a pitiful amount of knitting going on here at pen & purl. That is to say, virtually none. And [...]
Lazy Saturdays

Ever have one of those days where you look at the clock and all of a sudden it’s almost 6pm and you can’t for the life of you fathom where the last 12 hours went? Happening rather frequently here at pen and purl.
But, I do at least have some evidence of productivity:
Ta-da! It’s the V-neck [...]
I was ‘this’ close!

To buying more yarn. Lots of it. Well, at least 14 balls or so.
I had projects in mind, had sorted through the available colours and was ready to hit ‘proceed to checkout’ when I caught a glimpse of one of my stash boxes beyond my laptop. I pushed the laptop aside in order to [...]
Thought I would post an update of the never-ending wip:
It’s the Jo Sharp V-neck top that I am sort of bluffing my way through. It really does feel never-ending and I get lost in the constant rounds of plain knitting, although I’m only a few centimetres off changing to straights to complete the arm shaping [...]
A penchant for pink.

Given that Mother’s day is just around the corner, I decided to put together a little parcel to send to my fabulous Mum in NZ. Somehow I seem to have developed a penchant for pink somewhere along the way:
And also one for parcels. I currently have parcels with little treats and surprises for about three [...]
Super Supermaggie!

Ah,… online shopping. It’s not often that I buy anything other than yarn online these days, but when I saw these little Supermaggie shirts I couldn’t resist. So, I bought three. And here they are! Only five days after they were despatched from the U.S! How’s that for service?
(The third one doesn’t seem to want [...]
