See my dashing skills.

I have finished half a pair of Dashing!
These (when finished) will be for D, and as modelled here, they seem to fit pretty well. I knit this one on 4.5mm dpns in the ’smaller’ pattern size. D has rather large hands, but my gauge was out, so I sort of guessed.

This has been my [...]

‘Change’ seems to be my word of the week here at pen & purl. You might have noticed I’ve just amended the subtitle of my blog to read ‘thoughts on knitting (mostly) and writing (some)…’. Before it was something like ‘thoughts on writing, knitting, photography and more’ and I think it’s now slightly more accurate [...]

Cool change…

It’s finally cool enough here in Perth to get back in the habit of wearing something on my feet at home. And as always, Mum keeps D and I in good supply of knitted slippers (I mentioned these earlier, but with no picture). I currently have about four pairs to choose from, all in random [...]

The ‘to cut or not to cut’ crisis I posted about earlier is over! I decided (on D’s Mum’s advice) to reknit the seams of the thyme rib top about an inch in, undo the original seam and steam back the excess on either side. It fits much better now, although feels a little ‘padded’ [...]

I bought the last one:

And am thinking about a subscription. It has a good mix of patterns and knitting [...]

She has a ridiculously large following, writes and knits excessively well and manages to do so with a fabulous sense of humour. She’s published a couple of [...]

Monday

The beginning of the week!
This week, I hope, will involve more writing and less knitting. I really need to get some words down on the dissertation as technically I only have TWO MONTHS until it should be handed in; April and May. It’s due June 1st. (Eeeek!)
It’s going to take a bit of determination [...]

So, I was getting a little bored of the blue / black theme I had before and have opted for this simple, white theme. Hopefully you like it! I think I do, but might get around to changing the header at some stage..
A little more knitting today – Mum’s garter stitch scarf.
Also, have been [...]

Two are complete:

They are both made to this knitted turtle cloth pattern and knit in Jo Sharp DK cotton. The blue is knit on 3.25mm needles (which gives a weight that I think I prefer) and the pink on 4mm. I’m knitting them in advance as gifts for friends that are expecting in the next [...]
